While in his youth William du Pont, Jr. developed interests in hunting, horse racing and breeding, fox hounds, and tennis and later began his lifelong career as a banker at the Delaware Trust Corporation in Wilmington, Delaware. He eventually designated Bellevue Hall in Wilmington as his primary residence.
