Marquis de Lafayette, was a French nobleman, orphaned at a young age, who ultimately became one of the richest men in France. Yet at the age of 19, he decided to defy King Louis XVI and come to America to join the Revolutionary forces. From that time forward, he viewed himself as an American, as well as a Frenchman, and devoted his life to pursuing his vision of democracy and freedom.
This presentation will include Washington/Lafayette father/son relationship which also covers Lafayette's life, but adds the nuance as to how and why Washington considered Lafayette his "adopted" son.
